How to Grow Alfalfa Sprouts with a Nut Milk Bag

Step by Step Photo Guide

I recently met Tracy who works at the lovely Corrynne’s Soap Factory here in Dunsborough.  She is a big fan of using the Living Synergy Nut Milk Bags to grow sprouts in.

She has kindly taken some photos and shared her method with us … which is very easy.

Sprouts are super nutritious and a great way to get organic produce very cheaply, especially if you live in the city and don’t have much room or time for your own veggie garden.

DAY 1

- Soak ½ cup (for a regular size Nut Milk Bag) or 1 cup (for a commercial size Nut Milk Bag) of alfalfa seeds in a bowl of water, with enough water to cover the seeds.

- Put the bowl in a dark place until the seeds sprout open, which is usually about 24 hours.

DAY 2

- Pour the seeds into your Nut Milk Bag and give them a good rinse.  Tracy uses a bowl so she can pour the water on the garden afterwards.

- Hang the bag up somewhere so the water can drip into a bowl.

- Rinse the sprouts morning and evening so the sprouts are kept damp.

DAY 3

- Rinse morning and evening.

- Tracy moves the sprouts around with her hand to rotate them.

DAY 4

- Rinse morning and evening and keep rotating them.

DAY 5

- Your lovely sprouts should be ready to eat.

Just remember, if you do soak the sprouts again to remove the husks, you will need to hang your sprouts again to allow them to dry out.  You don’t want soggy sprouts!!

Tracy prefers to leave her husks on as she loves the crunch.

Thanks so much Tracy!

Enjoy.
